K4I Forum Chair, MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho appointed rapporteur for the new generation of European partnerships, within Horizon Europe
Portuguese MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho (EPP), chair of the K4I Forum in the European Parliament, was appointed rapporteur for nine European public-private partnerships within the new research programme, Horizon Europe.
The European Partnerships are a key implementation tool of Horizon Europe and play a crucial role in tackling some of Europe’s most pressing challenges through concerted research and innovation initiatives. Together with the research “missions”, the partnerships represent around 30% of Horizon Europe’s budget.
Previously appointed rapporteur for the European partnership on high-performance computing (HPC), MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho will now lead the efforts of the European Parliament in the negotiation process with the industry, on a wide range of initiatives, covering clean aviation, hydrogen, circular economy, the railways, innovative medicines, global health, and measurement systems.
MEP Carvalho emphasized the importance of the Partnerships in achieving the EU’s sustainable development goals and mentioned they would be highly necessary for the Industrial transition.
“The priority will be to ensure greater simplicity, more openness, simpler rules, and more synergies with other funds, such as Next Generation Europe and regional funds,” explained MEP Carvalho.
